Rainbow Bridge

IN LOVING MEMORY OF ALL OUR BELOVED PETS THAT ARE NO LONGER WITH US, THEY WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN AND REMAIN IN OUR HEARTS FOREVER!

THE RAINBOW BRIDGE POEM -

There is a bridge connecting heaven and earth.  It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colours.  Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys, with lush green grass.  When a beloved pet dies, it goes to this special place. There is always food and water and warm spring weather.  The old and frail are young again.  Those who are mained are made whole again.  They play all day with each other. There is only one thing missing.  They are not with their special person who loved them on earth.  So each day, they run and play, until the day comes when one stops playing and looks up!  The nose twitches, the ears are up, the eyes are staring.  And this one suddenly runs from the group.  You have been seen and when you and your special friend meet, you take him or her into your arms and embrace.  Your face is kissed again and again, and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet.  Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated . . . A PRAYER FOR ANIMALS -
Hear our humble prayer, O God, for our friends the animals, especially for animals who are suffering; for any that are hunted or lost or deserted or frightened or hungry; for all that must be put to death.  We entreat for them all Thy mercy and pity, and for those who deal with them we ask a heart of compassion and gentle hands and kindly words.  Make us, ourselves, to be true friends to animals and so to share the blessings of the merciful . . . SAD LOSSES:

ZORRO came into our lives when we rescued the 3 Amigos which had been dumped at some waste-bins near Aghios Emilianos in April 2013.  The 3 Amigos stayed with us until they had recovered and developed into healthy kittens.  Zorro's two sisters were eventually rehomed to new owners, but no one was interested in Zorro, so he stayed at home with us for a further ten years.  Sadly, due to deteriorating health, Zorro was put to sleep on 24th April 2023, as his condition was putting him in a great deal of pain.  He will be sadly missed by all the other stray furry friends he befriended and protected in his time with us. We still miss him greatly. x x

BOBBY (below) our beloved 16 year old pet that came with us from England, sadly passed away on Tuesday 13th September 2011 and will now be waiting for us across the Rainbow Bridge.  Over the last couple of years, his health deteriorated and there was nothing more we could do for him.  Finally, he is at peace, Bobby brought sunshine to us and was a vital part of our lives.  His passing has brought a void to our hearts which cannot be filled.  Sleep peacefully our dear little friend, we will never forget you  x x

THEO (left) was a twin and was a rescued kitten from a nearby church.  He was a gorgeous 4 year old boy, but sadly became very ill.  The local vet was unavailable at the time, so we had to make do with the pharmacy. When the vet finally was available, he didn't give any further medication, but advised to continue with what the pharmacy had prescribed.  Sadly after 6 days, Theo rapidly deteriorated overnight and died on Wednesday 11th April 2012, on the way to the vet. Sleep peacefully our dear little loving friend x x

MISSING ANIMALS:

Above Left to Right:  Popcorn, Sniffer, Leo, Natasha

Popcorn went missing 8 July 2011 from the green fields.  Such a tiny bundle of fun with his mummy.  Has someone taken him, or has nature taken its course?  This is something we will never know, which is heartbreaking.  Sniffer was the protector of all the cats.  A beautiful handsome young man, but one of many that had to be moved away, as village life is not ideal for any stray.  He left the green pastures (8 kms away) and came  back to the village of Ermioni Friday 1st July 2011.  For 15 days, we had to protect him, then finally he vanished Sunday 16 July 2011.  Has he been harmed, was he sick and came back to die?  Many questions, but no answers to give.  Leo (red cat) went to pastures green as he always wanted to play out, but with just a small courtyard, it was impossible to give him his freedom.  Sadly though, on 18th July 2011, he went missing from pastures green.  Again, was he harmed or is he also trying to find his way back to Ermioni?  LEO RETURNED HOME SAFELY AFTER EIGHT LONG WEEKS - HE ARRIVED HOME THE SAME MORNING THAT BOBBY (above) PASSED AWAY.  Natasha was a beautiful gentle one-eyed girl.  Sadly, she also went missing at the same time as Leo, 18th July 2011, but hasn't been seen since.

Above Left to Right:  Lulu, Juliet, Poorly Leg, Psycho, Romeo

Lulu was a lovely little girl, who played outside our home and lived in an old house.  She had a little blind son, called Smokey, who was lucky to go to a good home.  Sadly one day she was close to our home, then the next she was gone and never seen again.  Juliet was in a terrible state when she appeared, but with tender loving care and medication, her wounds healed.  Again, she was around for food and love, but then vanished, without any explanations.  Little PoorlyLeg girl, with the yellow collar around her neck, above her brother Sniffer, Psycho (white and ginger) and Romeo, had to be taken to green pastures, but ran away before either could be settled.  To date, they have still not been found, so we are hoping that perhaps they have found another home somewhere else.  It is heartbreaking to lose animals that you have loved, nursed, fed and watered, but we always live in hope and maybe someday we may come across them in their new surrounds, or they might still return 'home'.

Wherever you are . . . may the angels protect you and keep you safe from harm   x x
